  • Take the E80 coastal road and follow signs for Drobni Pijesak. To reach Drobni Pijesak Beach from Kotor, you can enjoy a picturesque drive along the coastal road, taking approximately 45 minutes. From Budva, the journey is even shorter, just a 15-minute scenic drive along the coastline. Travelers coming from Podgorica will drive around 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  • Park in the designated area and walk down a steep path to the beach.

How to get there:

  • Rent an X-Go car at Podgorica airport
  • As you continue south, you’ll pass close to the shores of Lake Skadar, the largest lake in the Balkans. This part of the drive offers glimpses of the lake’s tranquil waters and lush wetlands, home to diverse birdlife.
  • The road then begins to ascend into the hills, offering more winding paths and scenic overlooks. You’ll pass through several small towns and villages, each with its own charm and traditional Montenegrin architecture.
  • Near the town of Bar, you’ll merge onto the E851 coastal road. This well-maintained highway runs parallel to the Adriatic, offering stunning sea views and easier driving conditions.
  • Follow the E851 road southwards for approximately 12 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for Utjeha. Look for signs directing you to Utjeha Beach. The final approach involves a few more winding roads as you descend towards the beach area.

 Wander through the centuries-old olive trees that provide natural shade and a peaceful environment. Look for local vendors selling olive oil and other products made from the olives grown in the area. These make great souvenirs or additions to a beach picnic.

Buljarica Beach

Stretching over 2 kilometers, Buljarica Beach is one of Montenegro’s longest and most beautiful hidden beaches. Located near Petrovac, this beach is perfect for those seeking a quieter spot with plenty of space to unwind.The beach is characterized by its golden pebbles and clear turquoise waters, set against a backdrop of lush green hills and rugged cliffs. How to get there:

  • Rent your X-GO car and begin your journey from the center of Budva, heading south on the main road. Follow the signs for the E65/E80 highway towards Petrovac.
  • Drive south, passing through small coastal towns and villages. This part of the journey offers picturesque vistas, with opportunities to stop and take photos.
  • As you continue along the E65/E80, you’ll pass the famous islet of Sveti Stefan on your right. This iconic spot is worth a brief stop or at least a quick glance as you drive by.
  • Drive past the entrance to Petrovac, continuing on the E65/E80 road. Petrovac is a charming coastal town known for its beautiful beaches and historic sites, and it’s just a short distance from Buljarica Beach.
  • After passing Petrovac, keep an eye out for signs indicating Buljarica Beach. The turn-off for Buljarica is clearly marked and easy to spot. Once you reach the parking area, find a suitable spot and park your car. From here, it’s a short walk to the beach itself.

To avoid the midday heat and enjoy a more peaceful experience, consider visiting Buljarica Beach early in the morning or later in the afternoon.
